This is not a post like any other, since no matter how much others are gonna care about yet another boring drama poem of this kind (not like it's worth caring, but whatever), it won't change the way I feel. Consider this more like an attempt to address an issue in a more mature way than usual, like I'm talking in front of a mirror, taking out the trash inside my head. That said, let's get started.

I never wanted to say this, I refused to give in multiple times; now I have enough, and I decided to accept it.

The talent, the passion, being able to use music to communicate messages to others, to actually enjoy making music.

I lost all of those feelings, completely. I'm not able to create or convey not even the simplest of thoughts, simply because I forgot how good it feels to be able to make great things I can call my own.

Every day, I feel even more guilty of even thinking to spend time on something that doesn't contribute to my future. I can't sit and play with the notes, because there is always something that's more important, more relevant. Every day, the view I have of music production degenerates and gets worse, and I can't listen to any other artist on this site anymore, because every time I see in them what I can't achieve.

I'm just a parasite who's in the wrong place at this point. I feel disgusted by my own thoughts and by every word I spend on music, even when it comes to feedbacks and reviews: there are a lot of people who are better at this than I could ever be, and if I'd get out of the picture, nothing would change. There has been established a solid community.

It can be good even without someone like me.

For the time being, I'll stop calling myself both a producer and an artist, because I have no right to be neither: who knows if one day I'll find the joy of making music I lost long ago. Until then, I'll just be an ordinary man.

I have no regrets about this decision, because I know there are a lot of people who will have more opportunities to shine and prove to this community how much beautiful music can be.

Till the next time, see ya.

It happened at last: this page hit the first important fanbase goal on Newgrounds: 100 users.

Thanks for enjoying my stuff! I'm looking forward to raise the quality of this page even more, despite the hard times =)

See ya around, Newgrounders!

Virtual Bond

My prompt has a precise concept, which however leaves the door open to many scenarios.

Here are the criteria your song must follow:

  • We have a main character and her soulmate. They went through many hardships, got separated from each other, and then they ultimately reunited. When they first met, they would insult each other frequently, but they become really close overtime, and now they truly care about each other's wellbeing and safety. They’re up against a dangerous enemy who wants to destroy everything and therefore kill both of them.
  • The two lovers recall how far they’ve come and decide that they can’t give up now. Going all out, they rush against their foe, protecting each other as much as they can.
  • In the end, they kill the foe and both survive. After the battle, they declare their true feeling to each other and have their happy ending.

What I'm looking for from your submissions most of all is to make the listener feel empathy towards the two protagonists and their story. To clarify, make the listener feel anxious when they're fighting the enemy head on and overwhelmed with joy when they win, and make him feel the warm atmosphere at the end, and the importance of needing each other to succeed. Make him immerse himself in the story and provide him a moving experience, no matter the music style you choose.

Examples you can take inspiration from for your scenario (Spoilers ahead! You’ve been advised):

Cave Story (game): As Quote destroys the Undead Core, he makes his entrance to the Blood Stained Sanctuary and finds his partner Curly Brace. He attacks her on her back with a rope (they’re both robots) and make their way to the final boss of the game: Ballos, a freaking monster with 4 phases in total before being actually defeated. The author did a great job by building up the tension and the emotions with differents osts during the sanctuary level and the countless fights; furthermore, you can see how much the robot need to fight together to beat Ballos, asserting that their bond goes beyond nature.

Additional remix of Final Battle by Eliteferrex: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/627924

Super Xalaxer (Game): a NG flashgame where you make your way to the Xalaxer Fortress with two powerful ships. They must help each other out to defeat the enemies and escape unscathed, and the game does a good job by making yourself feel empathy for the ships, and highlights the importance of teamwork.

Tip: this game's ost is a good inspiration for fighting parts.

Edit: Since this game won't work after 31st December because of Flash Player's shutdown, here is the link of my full playthrough of this game if you want to see it after that date: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPUZrol6ckI

Player Two (Song by Eliteferrex): This song fits pretty well with my prompt. It's a good inspiration if you're looking for a more energetic and upbeat ending between the two protagonists.

More music (FIGHTS = Inspiration for fighting parts, EMPATHY = Inspiration for Emotional and Love parts):

That's it for my prompt! Feel free to ask down here in the comments if you have any questions.

Good luck!

Ok then.

Time to tell the truth about everything that happened one week ago, that culminated with me "leaving" Newgrounds. Forget the last post completely and read carefully the next lines if you are an active follower of my page and works.

What happened exactly?

It all started with my latest mash-up remix, Caramell Madness: it was a really hard project to finish, that saw many different version before being released, many tweaks and many hours spent into it. Less than 24 hours after being uploaded, it got removed for violating the Audio Guidelines. I thought that not including copyrighted samples would have been enough to not come across a submission deletion, but apparently it wasn't.

This is not the only reason though: after NGUAC ended, i realized how much i sucked comparing to the many artists i heard during the competition, and i felt extremely negative emotions. Those facts, mixed with two other events happened irl, made me see red, and i left 99% of the music communities i was in on Discord, including the NG Audio Pub.

I spent the last two days to reflect about what happened, to see if i could have faced my fears and confronted the community in a better way: i decided to come back, but my page will go through drastic changes.

First from now on, to prevent any more audio moderations issues,

I will upload NO MORE remixes and covers in this site ever again.

The full version covers of Gas Gas Gas, Till It's Over and Nokia's Swimming are an exception. I thought for a while if i should upload them or not when finished, and i've decided to give in, but at the slightest audio moderation conflict i'll refrain from putting them online in the first place.

It's a painful and hard decision, but necessary if i want to stay here peacefully.

My future original creations will still be uploaded and shared within the site, and the previous remixes i made before this post will stay online as well.

Even if i won't be as active as before, i'll still be around to help with TaintedLogic's contest in the years to come, and maybe support for one month the site when i find the right time and conditions.

That said, see you around Newgrounders.

Hello fellow producers, Mutty here! I've got some news for ya guys.

First of all, this year i'm a judge in NGUAC! When the results of the various phases will come out, if you want to ask me a written review of your piece, feel free to send me a Private Message and i'll write it down asap.

For now, i'll leave here my judging criteria.

They are five, and they each give max 2 points, for a max total of 10.

1) ORIGINALITY: Does the piece feel dynamic or not? Is it pleasant to listen to? Does it stand out from the others? Can it be listened a few times without being tired out?

2) COMPOSITION: Does the track have a valid concept? Does is sort of, "tell a story"? Did the composer make clever composing choices? (For covers and remixes, i always remove 0,5 points by default, unless it's an exceptional case).

3) STRUCTURE: Is the mix polished? Does it flow properly without sudden breaks? Does it evolve in a good way? How are the transitions? Does it begin and end in good notes?

4) TECNICITY: This category comprehends all eqs and most "mechanical" stuff, which it makes the hardest to get a 2 into. Is every instrument equalized properly? Does it feel "professional"? Is the whole song solid as a whole?

5) IMPACT: A mix of all the 4 categories above, a bit more personal score of how much i enjoyed the track in general.

That's it for NGUAC 2020.

For future submissions, i plan to release more remixes and finally ONE original, which i'm working hard on.

Since i'll stop producing for a while, enjoy my latest remix here: https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/952915

See ya soon, and have nice holidays! =)

*Air horn sound*

Today is the anniversary of my 5th year since i've joined Newgrounds! :D

To celebrate, i've made this remix:

This journey has a been an absolute blast till now, and it's far from over. I still have to share a lot of new content; speaking of which, i'm currently working on a new original (wow, Mutty that makes a song from scratch, now that's some news xd).

Anyways, thanks to everyone who showed me support during those 1825 days!

The journey goes on, fellow musicians and not musicians; see ya! ;)
